TY Doolin Walk
On Wednesday the 16th of September, the whole of Scoil Mhuire TY embarked on the annual TY trip to Doolin. With much excitement and heavily packed bags the year group departed from the school at 10am on Wednesday. With promising weather and great enthusiasim from everyone in the year group it was bound to be a great day. Pete, our bus driver, let us lighten our load by dropping our heavy bags at the hostel we were staying in before commencing Wednesday’s walk. The bus dropped us up in the Fanore direction where we were greeted by our tour guide Brian from Ben’s surf clinic who was also full of enthusiasm. We began walking at around eleven and began trekking through the Burren’s infamous Karst Landscape. Our walking route was coastal and we stopped occasionally to take in the breathtaking views of the West Coast. We arrived back at the hostel tired and hungry at around four o’clock awaiting our diner in great anticipation. Dinner was at six o’clock and it was a great opportunity for our year to mix within our groups and talk to everyone. The evening was followed by watching a film together and a group sing song with Hailey’s ukulele accompaniment! We were not as blessed in regards to the weather on Thursday with grey skies and slight showers but that did not deflate our enthusiasm. We were up and ready for ten o’clock again on Thursday. Our teachers Mrs. Hooban and Mrs. Ryan led the way as we began our second hike. Thursday’s walk was more uphill but it proved to be no difficulty for us Scoil Mhuire girls as we helped each other out along the way. We stopped at the Cliffs of Moher for lunch and also to reenergise ourselves for the final leg of our trip back to Liscannor. The weather took a turn for the better during our final leg. We arrived at Hag’s Head at around two o’clock where we stopped for a final look back at the route we’d taken followed by some wonderful group photos in remembrance of the Doolin trip. It proved to be a wonderful experience to share with the whole year group and a great way to bond and familiarise with everybody in the year. It was a great start to what will be a wonderful year.
