TOP SCHOOL IN CLARE FOR THE THIRD SUCCESSIVE YEAR

Scoil Mhuire, Ennistymon has once again taken the prestigious title of the highest ranked school in Clare in The Sunday Times Best Schools Guide published on August 27th. This is the third successive year that the Ennistymon all-girls school has been ranked number one school in Clare. The annual survey is the definitive guide to the country’s top 400 secondary schools. It measures the progression of all second-level students over a three-year period from 2014-2016 to universities and institutes of technology. The average proportion of students gaining places at one of the nine universities on the island of Ireland, main teacher training colleges, Royal College of Surgeons or National College of Art and Design are ranked in the guide.

For the fourth year running Limerick’s Colaiste Laurel Hill, a non-fee paying, all girls secondary school, has been ranked number one in the Republic of Ireland. In fact girls’ schools have topped the Best Schools Guide making up 13 of the top 25 on the list demonstrating that attending a same-sex school can help promote further academic achievement by helping students gain places in college.

The top three Clare schools are Scoil Mhuire Ennistymon, ranked number 65 followed by Colaiste Mhuire at number 86 and Rice College at 89. According to the research 64.1% of Scoil Mhuire students attended University with a total of 88.6% going on to third-level education. This places the Ennistymon school in the envied position of 12th best school in Munster and it sits in 20th place in the top girls school in the country.
