Staff In-service and Workshop

Following a successful and busy week with the Open Night and Musical, Scoil Mhuire staff had a day of meetings, workshops and in-service today (while 3rd, 5th and 6th year students were accommodated in study to prepare for the upcoming tests).

After a brief staff meeting in the morning, Ann O’Brien from the PDST led an in-service on Assessment for Learning. This provoked much discussion and gave teachers interesting ideas for future classroom practice and assessment methods.

After the lunch break Mary McMahon from the HSE in Clare gave staff an introduction to the Health Schools Promotion Initiative which is a new initiative to which Scoil Mhuire are signing up. Staff were then given the opportunity to discuss at length the current state of health promotion in our school as well as what steps they would like to see taken next. It is a really exciting new initiative for our school; students, staff, parents and all partners with the potential to greatly improve all aspects of a healthy lifestyle for the school community.

Thanks to both facilitators for their time and work presented.
