Leaving Cert Results
The nail-biting wait for the class of 2018 is over. It’s a sure sign that Summer is drawing to a close when schools open their doors to anxious Leaving Certificate students receiving their results. As contents of Leaving Cert envelopes revealed richly deserved results, a sense of overwhelming relief and excitement was the order of the day at Scoil Mhuire, Ennistymon. While it was reported at national level that the core subjects were a worry, Scoil Mhuire students bucked the trend and pupils of all abilities achieved and exceeded individual targets. This years results are among the best recorded in the school and reflects the professional excellence of the teaching staff, the determination and hard work of students and the dedicated support of parents and guardians. Principal, Seosaimhin Ui Dhomhnallain was overjoyed by the “excellent performances across the board” and heaped praise on this “group of very fine talented girls who were co-operative and fine role models for younger students”. She was delighted to note that ” results were significantly above the national average in all subjects”. She wished the girls “every success in their chosen careers”. Scoil Mhuire’s results have led to the school being ranked by the Irish Times as the best performing school in Co. Clare for a number of years. The majority of students are now confident they have booked a place on their first choice college course when the CAO offers are made next week. As the quietness returned, temporarily, to Scoil Mhuire, every member of the school community was unanimous in wishing this class health, happiness and success as they commence the next stage of their journey.
