Huge congratulations to Shannon Harriman, a 6th Year student in Scoil Mhuire, Ennistymon who won the top prize of an iPad in the www.recraft.ie annual Irish Animation and 3D Modelling Competition run by Clonmel IT. She was tasked with a 3D Monster Mash-up Challenge, where she had to use Recraft’s software to design a 3D animated creature. The national award ceremony took place at DesignFest in Clonmel. Shannon, from Corofin, is studying Art for her Leaving Certificate and hopes to follow a career in the creative arts.
Aoibhín Fahy, a Transition Year student from Scoil Mhuire, Ennistymon won an Ipad in a photographic competition held in Ennistymon in association with the BOI Let’s Connect Ennistymon initiative. Her entry, reflecting the Future of Ennistymon, was a beautiful photo of two friends at the riverside.
Congratulations also to Emma Clancy, a third year student in Scoil Mhuire, Ennistymon who was shortlisted as one of the 300 national semi-finalists in the 2016 Doodle 4 Google Art Competition. Emma’s colourful design was based on the theme ‘Ireland is…’
The 5th Year art class are currently working on the www.1916sackvillestreet.com art project,which commemorates the 262 innocent civilians who died in the 1916 Rising. They are creating a house sculpture to reflect the life of the late Joseph O’Donoghue and will exhibit their sculpture in the Botanic Gardens, Dublin on April 8th in a high-profile art exhibition. Their work will also feature in a book about the project. More details to follow.
