Sports

Sport in Scoil Mhuire is very exciting. There are such a huge range of sports on offer, there is bound to be something to suit everyone.

P.E. (Physical Education)

P.E. is run in the Ennistymon Community Centre where possible. 1st year - Transition year have a double class every week while 5th year and leaving cert have a single class every week.

The following are some of the sports you take part in during P.E. class:

Basketball Gaelic Football

Extra Curricular Sport

Basketball

1st year, 2nd year, u-16 and u-19 teams participate in school leagues

1st year county champions 2008 and 2010, and all Ireland finalists 2010    

Sr. Jo Griffin Cup (for 2nd years) 2008 – 2009

Football

1st year, junior and senior teams compete in Clare and Munster competitions.

After school training with Ms. Eustace

1st year Blitz final runners up in ’07 and ’08.

Munster junior champions ’08.

All Ireland Semi-Finalists 2008. Junior and senior county champions ’08, ’09, ’10 (3 in a row!)                                

Taekwon-do(Martial Art)

Classes are held:

Friday – 2-3 central Area

National competitions and gradings as part of the Irish Taekwon-Do Association.

Camogie

Junior and Senior teams compete in Clare Competitions

1st Year Blitz

Show-Jumping

Participate in show-jumping competitions around the country.

Hoofprints Inter Schools Competition

Swimming

First years get the opportunity to go the Lahinch Swimming Pool for lessons in Term Two.

Surfing

Surfing lessons in Lahinch in Transition Year as part of P.E.

Golf

Students can participate in any School Golf Competitions.
